Tewe Mpya: Building Climate-Resilient Livelihoods

Learn how agroforestry in Tewe Mpya is building climate-resilient livelihoods, improving soil health, and supporting sustainable income through the Forest Focus Plant to Stop Poverty initiative.

Building Climate-Resilient Livelihoods In Tewe Mpya

In the semi-arid landscapes of Tewe Mpya, farming families face declining soil fertility and rapid deforestation.

Introducing Agroforestry To Change The Trajectory

Through GiftTrees' support of the Forest Focus Plant to Stop Poverty (PSP) initiative, 120,000 multipurpose trees were introduced in April 2025 to change that trajectory.

Fruit and timber species, including jackfruit, papaya, mango, lemon, and avocado, are helping households diversify income beyond sisal farming and charcoal production.

Laying Foundations For Long-Term Sustainability

As infrastructure in the community slowly develops, agroforestry is laying a strong foundation for long-term food security and environmental sustainability.
