This month, as we mark International Women’s Day and look ahead to Mother’s Day, we are shining a light on the women who are not only raising families but also rebuilding futures.

In rural communities where opportunities are limited, women are driving change through resilience, determination, and agroforestry. With the right support, they are creating a lasting impact on their children and communities.

Women Who Grow Hope

Meet Margret. A single mother of three, she lost her husband five years ago and has worked tirelessly to support her children by selling vegetable oil. Despite her efforts, income was limited, and stability remained out of reach.

Through GiftTrees and the Mshikamano Women’s Group, Margret now has access to agroforestry training. She is learning how to grow crops that will provide both food and income for her family, creating a more secure and hopeful future.

The Role Of The Mshikamano Women’s Group

In rural villages where women often have limited access to education, financial opportunity, and support, the Mshikamano Women’s Group is creating change. The group is community-driven and focuses on shared knowledge, skill-building, and the creation of sustainable livelihoods.

Women in the group support one another as they learn new farming practices, develop small businesses, and increase their income through agroforestry. For many, this is their first opportunity to gain practical skills that can support their families long-term.
